Deeptha Achar is a Professor at the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, MS University. Her Ph. D research was on Representations of Africa in 19th Century British Boys Fiction, from CIEFL, Hyderabad. She has co-edited Towards a New Art History: Studies in Indian Art (New Delhi: DK Printworld, 2003), Discourse, Democracy and Difference (New Delhi: Sahitya Akademi, 2010) and Articulating Resistance: Art and Activism in India (New Delhi: Tulika, 2012). She is currently working on nationalism, region and the art of K Venkatappa. Her research interests include Childhood Studies, Visual Culture, Dalit Studies and the history of education in India.
