Lajwanti Chatani

Lajwanti Chatani is Professor of Political Theory at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Professor Chatani is the Head of the Department of Political Science and Vice Dean, Faculty of Arts. She is the Convener of the Forum on Contemporary Theory, an interdisciplinary forum for academic and intellectual exchange and dialogue. Professor Chatani pursued her MA, M.Phil and Ph.D. in Political Science from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She has several publications to her credit. She has edited a special issue of the Journal of Contemporary Thought on “Revisiting the Political” (2009) and a special issue of Anekaant: A Journal of Polysemic Thought on “Gandhi and Time-Binding: Interface between Principles and Practices” (2018). Professor Chatani is the Joint Editor of Journal of Contemporary Thought and the Consulting Editor of Journal of Public Affairs and Social Change. She has been a member of the course formulation and textbook writing committees for NCERT and IGNOU. She has organized several national and international workshops and conferences for both the University and the Forum. She is a Member of the Module on “Normative Conflicts and Transformation” for the project on Metamorphosis of the Political: Comparative Perspectives on the Long Twentieth Century at the International Center for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences, an initiative supported by Max Weber Foundation and German Historical Institute, London. She also held the position of Officiating Director of the Institute of Policy Research and International Studies at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her areas of academic interest are political theory/thought – western and Indian; justice; state-religion relationship; democracy and gender studies.

Dr. James Regina C. Dabhi

James Regina C. Dabhi, S.J. was director at NAVSARJAN – Xavier’s cell for human development, Surat.  Earlier he served as research Director at the Human Development and Research Centre, St. Xavier’s college, Ahmedabad. He has worked as Country Director of Afghanistan Research and Development Institute (ARDI) based in Kabul, and taught in the Government universities in Afghanistan in subjects like sociology, social research and development management. He also has served as the executive Director of Indian Social Institute, an institute for Research, Training and   Action   for   Socio -Economic Development and Human Rights in New Delhi.  He was a visiting faculty at Amrut Modi School of Management, Ahmedabad University. He is also part of the professional team from 2014 to facilitate the credit courses based on applied behavioral science for P GX for Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has written number of articles and books on education, Not for Profit Organisations, democracy, gender and inclusive development. His academic studies include BA in Philosophy and Sociology, M.Sc. from London, School of Economics and Ph.D. in Sociology of Organisation on NGOs culture and effectiveness.
