Rupalee Burke is Professor and Head of the English Dept. in Sahajanand Commerce College in Ahmedabad. uses her writing, copyediting and translation skills for cultural activism. For more than three decades she has been translating literature and non-fiction, copyediting reports and manuals for various NGOs extensively across English, Gujarati and occasionally Hindi. Her work has been published in journals like Indian Literature, The Cordite Poetry Review, Asymptote, Muse India, Guftugu and anthologies like India Dissents: 3000 years of Difference, Doubt and Argument edited by Ashok Vajpeyi (Speaking Tiger), Vimukta: Freedom Stories, edited by Dakxin Bajrange and Henry Shwartz (Navayana), etc. She has translated the Gaza Monologues into Gujarati. Her translations have appeared in the recently published Poetry at Sangam's The Dragon's Heart: World Poetry in Translation (Jadavpur University Press) and The Penguin Book of Poems on the Indian City edited by Bilal Moin. She is honorary Director of Harivallabh Bhayani Centre, UK.
